Connected Distribution: Integrated Amplifiers
The development of putting the preamplifier and power amplifier together in one 'ready to go' box is something that has beguiled many engineers and audio manufacturers for many years. Easy in concept to do, but sometimes very difficult to pull off in real terms if you really want it to be better than a pre and power combo arguably.
Often this execution is dictated by budget or the desire to economise real estate - or a combination of both. We all have started with an integrated amplifier somewhere along the line as consumers in the audio world, as it is usually the stepping stone for the first flourishes of a romance with Hi-Fi, and if you stay in love with that world - you generally progress to the higher end pre and power combo's in the end.
However; manufacturers over the years have honed this craft of the integrated amplifier - and it has now evolved into many competing parts which include in-built streaming capability, D to A convertors and network connectivity for control too. Now the integrated amplifier is a challenge to many manufacturers. A challenge to achieve the impossible in certain respects, as a gauntlet it has been laid down and evolved over many years - and it is now a high art in its own right!
They have a worthy place in the audio world. Not only as they fit budget constraints and real estate requirements, but because they also help us develop new approaches and variants on the theme. Our portfolio boasts many worthy options in this wide and highly desirable market place. From high artisan and unashamedly musical options from Heed Audio, to award winning Parasound products and of course Yamaha's take on this evolved thesis too. All catering for something slightly different; different tastes, different aesthetics and of course different budgets!
